A Sicilian stunner, the Bellaia Appassimento Rosso 2021 is on its way to becoming our #1 selling everyday Italian Red! Remarkably fresh, Bellaia is like drinking a baby Amarone grown in the Sicilian sunshine. The best grapes from different vineyards are selected and brought to the winery's drying room to undergo the appassimento process. After at least 3 months of drying, the grapes have shriveled and lost much of their water, while retaining their sugar, flavor, and other components. Once fermented and aged, the Bellaia Rosso is a powerful red, yet fruity, fresh, and clean. Complex aromas of dark cherry, blackcurrant and blackberry preserves, and those dark tones transition to sweet tones of spice, licorice and tar. This is a full-bodied and thoroughly contemporary expression that translates to the palate with lively energy and lots of power. This wine is pure and delicious and what our Wine of the Month program is all about. These carefully selected wines represent not only the varietal or the region, but are an amazing value!
