This ancient property, situated in the Alentejo region of Southern Portugal can trace its wine producing roots back to the Bronze Age. During the Roman occupation, the wines of Esporao were exported throughout the empire. The current boundaries of the estate were established in 1267 and at the heart of the property is the Tower of Esporão built between 1457 and 1490. Today the wine-making is under the auspices of Australian born David Baverstock, which lends a more international style to the wines.
Wines with a classic regional profile, made from selected grapes from plots that demonstrate the consistency and typical character of the finest Alentejo wines.
