"The 2021 Foral de Melgaço Old Vines (40+ years) is an Alvarinho that comes in dry, without fizz and at 12.9% alcohol. Zippy and zesty, this is moderately concentrated for Alvarinho, but it's tense on the finish with a sunny demeanor. It sometimes, to be sure, seems more like a crisp Dry Riesling than an Alvarinho. In other words, some expression of fruit is missing right now. On its own terms, it is very fine, but I'd like to see more Alvarinho character in time. I suspect this will age well, and for next summer, this might be in much better form. The fruit should evolve and open, countering the structure better. There is a lot of wine here for the price point. It just needs six to 12 months in bottle." The Wine Advocate, 90 Points
